Darlene Hess is licensed as a Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Practitioner in New Mexico. Darlene has a PhD in Health Education and Health Promotion from the University of New Mexico. She has two master’s degrees in Nursing, one as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from New Mexico State University, and the other as a Community Clinical Nurse Specialist/Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She is credentialed as a Professional Certified Coach by the International Coach Federation and as a Health and Wellness Coach by the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation. She is board certified as an Adult Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse.
Darlene was Co-Director of a national task force commissioned by the American Holistic Nurse Certification Corporation to create role competencies and a certification process for nurse coaches. She has co-authored several publications on coaching including lead author of the 1st Edition, The Art and Science of Nurse Coaching: The Provider’s Guide for Coaching Scope and Competencies.
